Part of Bowers Advisory

A website you own,
and somebody watching it.

I build websites for organisations that have to be able to evidence things — charities answering to trustees and funders, clinics and care providers, professional firms holding client-confidential material. I build it, I document the handover, and I keep it running afterwards.

The question underneath

It is rarely the design that costs you.

Most of the organisations I would build for already have a website. It was built three or four years ago by someone who has moved on, it does not ask anyone for their business, nobody can edit it, and there is usually some doubt about who owns the domain.

Underneath that sits the question that actually costs money: is it accessible, what happens to the data in the contact form, who is responsible, and when was any of it last checked. That question does not come from a customer. It comes from a funder, a trustee, an insurer or a regulator.

I am not the cheapest and I am not trying to be. You can have a website for the price of a monthly subscription. What you cannot have that way is documented ownership, accessibility built in on purpose, a privacy set-up that stands up, and one named person accountable when something breaks.

Builds

Three ways in. Fixed scope, fixed fee, fixed time box.

You know what you are getting and what it costs before anything starts. Every build carries twelve months of care — a condition, not an upsell.

A migration, a membership area, payments, or several suppliers to hold together is a different kind of job. It is scoped first and quoted per engagement, and it is handled under Bowers Advisory rather than here — at that size you are buying senior accountability for a programme rather than a website.

Every build

What you get whichever rung you pick.

  • Ownership from day one

The domain, the accounts, the code and the documentation are yours and in your name. If you ever leave, you take the lot.

  • A documented handover

What was built, where it lives, how to change it, who to call.

  • Accessibility built in

Built to WCAG 2.2 AA intent, on purpose and from the start, not bolted on afterwards.

  • A privacy set-up that stands up

A privacy and cookie position that survives being asked about by a funder, a trustee or a regulator.

  • One revision round

And thirty days’ snagging after launch.

  • A twelve-month guarantee

If something does not work the way it was specified, I fix it, at no charge, for a year.

Looking after it

The part that matters twelve months later.

This is the part that matters twelve months later, and it is why the care plan is a condition rather than an option. A site nobody maintains decays quietly — certificates lapse, plugins go stale, the contact form stops sending and nobody notices for six weeks.

The written annual review is the document that answers a trustee or a funder asking whether the website is accessible, whether personal data is handled properly, and who is responsible for it. I read seven local providers’ websites in August 2026. None of them published anything like it.

How the care plans work

What I commit to

Situation You hear from me It is dealt with
Site down, or the enquiry form is broken Within one working day Same or next working day
A change, a fix or a small job Within one working day Five working days
An improvement or something new Within one working day Scheduled with you

A twelve-month guarantee. Anything that does not work as specified gets fixed at no charge for a year after launch. That covers defects. It does not cover changes of mind, which is a different and entirely reasonable request that I will quote for.

Work

Three sites this year, and what they actually are.

Three sites went live this year: a charity, a clinic, and this practice. I should say plainly that all three are organisations I am involved in — I am a trustee at the charity and I hold an interim management role at the clinic. They are real builds with real users, and they are not an arm’s-length client list. You are entitled to know the difference.

Bowers Web Design is part of Bowers Advisory — Tom Bowers’ independent practice.

Where I build a site, I don’t also sell you an independent review of it. Those are two different jobs and you get one of them from me, not both.

Contact

Start with a
thirty-minute call.

What you have, what it needs to do, and who is going to ask you about it. A fixed quote follows within three working days. If the honest answer is that you do not need a new website, I will tell you on the call.
